  • 2 c. all-purpose flour 
  • 1/4 c. unsweetened cocoa 
  • 1/4 c. unsweetened black cocoa (we like King Arthur) 
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda 
  • 1/4 tsp. kosher salt 
  • 3/4 c. unsalted butter 
  • 3/4 c. granulated sugar 
  • 1 large egg 
  • 2 tsp. pure vanilla extract

2. Halloween Peanut Butter Spider Cookies

 Ingredients:  

  • ½ cup shortening 
  • ½ cup peanut butter 
  • ½ cup brown sugar 
  • ½ cup sugar 
  • 1 egg 
  • 2 tablespoon milk 
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla 
  • 1 ¾ cup flour 
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda 
  • ½ teaspoon salt 
  • ¼ cup sugar for rolling 
  • 48 miniature peanut butter cups unwrapped and FROZEN 
  • 96 candy eyes 
  • ½ cup chocolate chips

3. Chocolate Monster Halloween Cookies

These colorful tasty cookies are a treat for adults and kids alike. Though they’re called monster cookies, these cookies are cuter than they are scary.    

Ingredients:  

FOR THE COOKIES;  

  • 260 g / 2 cups / 9.2oz plain (all-purpose) flour 
  • 60 g / ½ cup Dutch-processed cocoa 
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder 
  • ¾ cup / 150g / 5.3oz white sugar 
  • 113 g / 1/2 cup / 1 stick unsalted butter, cold & cut into cubes 
  • 1 large egg, cold 
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 
  • 1 tablespoon cold milk (notes)

 

FOR THE VANILLA BUTTERCREAM FILLING;  

  • 1 1/2 cups / 195g icing (confectioners / powdered) sugar 
  • 80 g / 2/3 stick unsalted butter, softened 
  • 2 teaspoons thickened / heavy cream 
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 
  • Pinch of salt 
  • Purple and orange food coloring 
  • Sprinkles and monster eye candies for decorating
